Just like any Mother-Daughter relationship, there are ups and downs. But at the end of the day, I love and appreciate everything Mum does. And although Mother’s Day is this Sunday (in case you haven’t notice), there is no celebration. That’s because I celebrate my love for my Mother everyday. It may not be clearly shown but it’s always the little things that create the biggest joy.

With busy schedules throughout the week, Mom and I spend our free weekends out and about shopping (our favourite thing to do!). This weekend is no different. Lunch and shop is the plan! Sounds pretty bland but Mom loves it, any time we get to spend together is a good time!

My family isn’t big on gifting. We gift unexpectedly rather than on a given celebration day. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have a little surprise and some sweet treats waiting to be opened on Sunday.

That’s how I’ll celebrate Mother’s Day this year. But there are endless ways to celebrate Mother’s Day for everyone.

Spend the day as a family or just with Mom. Gather your extended family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) for a gathering. Shopping, spa, brunch, musical, whatever she wants, it’s practically her day!

If staying home and laying low is what she want, you mustn’t drag her out. Watch a movie, play board games, bake, cook, garden, those are all fun activities to do at home.

As for gifts, jewelry is a big one. Flowers are pretty standard but Moms love flowers, at least my Mother does. Handmade and written cards are the best. Clothes, handbags, home décor, kitchen appliances won’t go wrong either – I bought a few items items in the past from the home department and Mum was ecstatic!

Photos! Printing out photos and putting them in an album for keepsake is always a thoughtful gift (Especially since the digital world took over and photos are all stored on computers and smartphones).

Like I mentioned earlier, there are countless ways to celebrate Mother’s Day. Check out some crafty DIYs on Pinterest for creative Mother’s Day ideas. As long as you show your Mom (or anyone you consider a Mother figure) how much you love ’em. Even though it should be done daily, take the time on Mother’s Day and give her a big thank you for everything that she has done and shower her with love.

Happy Mother’s Day, Moms!
