Maybelline Eyebrow Experiment

Brows! For many of us, they must always be on fleek. Unfortunately, a lot of us were not blessed in the brow department (or we may have been had we not over pluck them in the past). Luckily there’s help thanks to the many brow products that are out in the market. But how does one know which is the best of the best? Sometimes you just need to experiment around to find out which product works best for you and your brows.

When I first entered the world of filling in my brows, I used a light brown eyeliner pencil. Yes, an eyeliner pencil. I didn’t care for my brows at the time but still wanted my brows to be slightly noticeable. Fast forward a few years later when the brow trend was trickling in, I used a mix of black and brown eyeshadows. Then, I jumped onto the bandwagon and used a brow pomade and that has been my go-to product. But recently, I tried a brow pencil and my opinion on them had changed for the better.

That being said, it’s always good to experiment and possibly find new favourite product you may not realize. Maybelline has come out with a few brow products and I’m putting three of them to the test and discover if I have a new favourite brow product.

Maybelline Brow Drama Shaping Chalk Powder

Introducing Maybelline’s first ever brow powder! The soft powder texture and thick-to-thin applicator make achieving boldly filled brows easy. The Brow Drama Shaping Chalk Powder delivers boldly filled brows with soft edges for an impactful makeup look.

HOW TO APPLY:
Begin to fill with flat side of brush at the brow anchor.
Next, twist tip of brush to define the tail end of the brow.
Repeat as needed to build intensity.

The product reminded me a lot of the Maybelline Shadow Stylist I used in the past. Based on experience, I knew that the product might end up a little messy if not used carefully.

Application of the product was simple and easy to use. I just took the applicator and followed my brow shape. It definitely filled in and created a bold brow with no harsh edges. The product did stay on my eyebrows throughout the day and the colour does match and can be buildable if I wanted a darker brow.

Quick Notes:
– I would recommend using this product before applying any makeup as the powder can dusts off onto your makeup/clothes.
– I find that it would be easier if an eyebrow stencil is used to apply the product.
– If it’s too messy and frustrating and think this product isn’t for you, I say to use this product as an eyeshadow.

Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer

Brows get a three-dimensional WOW effect and delivers full and coloured brows in a few easy strokes with Maybelline’s Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer mascara. The fiber-infused gel formula adds volume and colour for an instant brow boost. The tapered spoon brush delivers precise application from corner to corner.

HOW TO APPLY:
Wipe excess formula off the tip of the brush.
Then, starting at the inner brow and ending at the brow tail, apply mascara in short, upward strokes.
Repeat until desired brow look is achieved.

The product is literally shaped like a hair brush for your brows. I didn’t think I would like this product but surprisingly, I very much enjoy this product. It’s easy to use and does the job of getting your brows on fleek, quick! With that in mind, one thing to note is that the product settles pretty fast, so you have to work quickly. In the end, there was no sticky or or gel-like feeling on my brows, my brows look and feel natural as it mimics brow hairs, stayed in shape and lasted all day.

Maybelline Brow Precise Micro Pencil

Brow Precise Micro Pencil features an ultra-fine 1.5mm tip and grooming brush to shape and fill with impeccable precision in every stroke. Fill and blend for full and natural-looking eyebrows.

HOW TO APPLY:
Draw small, light strokes along the brow contour.
Use the brush to groom hairs upward and outward to blend colour and set brows.

I love that the Micro Pencil is twistable so there is no worrying about the mess and waste of sharpening. It’s super easy to apply as you simply just follow and fill in your eyebrow hairs. The preciseness of the pencil allows you to really mimic the hairs on your brows. Once the product is applied, you don’t feel that the product is on, it’s super lightweight and best of all, it stays on all day. The spoolie on the opposite end was a great addition to groom the hairs and blend the brows.

Overall, if I had to rank the three brow products, I would say Brow Precise Micro Pencil would be my favourite, then coming close in second is the Fiber Volumizer and lastly, the Brow Drama Shaping Chalk.
