Just like skin care, hair care is extremely important to me. In my early teenage years, I simply used shampoo, conditioner and would use a heat tool daily – no heat protector, nothing. You can imagine how damaging my hair (especially the ends) looked when it wasn’t styled. I never realized there were products that should be used in order to maintain hair health.
Fast forward to my later teen years, I was introduced to a hair oil treatment and then slowly started to discover the world of hair care. That was over a decade ago, nowadays, my hair is quite healthy but I feel it’s lacking a bit of a silky shine. I’ve tried different hair care products and none really give me that shine that I envy. Most seem to make my hair look and feel oily instead of shiny.

L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Rinse-Out Hair Treatment is a new generation of premium hair treatment. Visibly transforms hair from the first use, this rinse-out liquid hair treatment is 8 seconds to silkier, shinier, healthier hair.
With moisturizing agents and amino acids, L’Oreal 8 Second Wonder Water formula targets damaged areas of hair, forming thin layers called lamellas that smooth the hair’s surface with no weigh down. Upon contact with wet hair, it works in just 8 seconds to visibly transform hair, leaving damaged hair feeling healthy, shiny, and silky.

HOW TO USE
- Use 2-3 times a week on wet hair after shampoo:
- (1 dose = 20ml: 1 dose for fine to medium texture. 2-3 doses for thick to curly texture. Add 1 more dose if you have long hair.)
- Apply directly to wet hair
- Massage through hair for 8 seconds
- Rinse out, avoiding contact with eyes
- Optional: Use conditioner after if needed
The L’Oreal 8 Second Wonder Water has a clear, water consistency. The way I would describe the scent would be a lightly sweet musk scent – I don’t mind it, I quite like it. It’s not too overpowering that’ll give you a headache but it does linger for a bit after hair wash.

As per instruction, it does state to use 1 dose = 20ml of product and I like that the back of the bottle labels it, so there’s exactly 10 uses in total if you have fine to medium hair and about 5 uses for thick to curly or long hair.
It was a bit difficult to distribute and massage the product evenly during wash because it’s essentially water-base and I didn’t know how much I’m pouring onto my hair. I suggest pouring 20ml of the product into a small cup (like a shot glass) for easy application. Other than that, it did leave a slight warm sensation while it was being massaged.

In terms of the results itself, it’s hard to really tell the difference in photos because overall my hair is in a healthy state. But it did leave my hair looking and feeling softer, a tad bit shinier and less flyaways – which is a score in my books!
