Ever since I was little, skincare has always played an important role – many thanks to my Mother who pretty much taught me skincare 101. I was dreading the awkward teenage acne phase that was instilled in me but I lucked out.
Rarely an acne in sight throughout my entire teenage years, I felt like I hit the jackpot in the clear skin department. Then enters adulthood. Clearly forgetting to knock on wood, nobody had told me about adult acne. I spent most of my early 20’s shopping for products and hoping that everything goes back to normal, sans breakouts and redness, but I felt the more products I played around, the more harm it was doing than good.
Eventually I started to do a deep dive into ingredients and understanding what my skin needs instead of what it wants. And luckily by that time, I’ve notice more and more skincare companies surfacing and being talked about. One of the companies I came across was Drunk Elephant. Having heard so many good things, I purchased their Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil and it has been in my skincare routine religiously.
It’s been a couple of years since and I felt I should really explore the DE line, especially because I needed something like the TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, but a part of me couldn’t quite justify with the price. Then I caved in when I saw the Shelf-Control Night Shelfie Kit in August 2019 and purchased it the moment it became available at Sephora.
Sitting oh-so-pretty on the counter, this shelfie set contains everything needed for a nighttime skincare routine to smooth texture and tone, hydrate, and nourish for a glowing skin.
Drunk Elephant Shelf-Control Night Shelfie includes:
TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum – 30ml
C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream – 5ml
Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser – 30ml
Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil – 8ml
Lala Retro Whipped Cream – 15ml
Prior to using this DE set, my skin was at a manageable state but it wasn’t 100% where I liked it to be – I wanted to achieve clear skin, radiant complexion, no need for makeup foundation status.
In the first few days of using the set in the evening, I already saw a huge difference in my complexion and I was sold! I kinda wish I took a before and after to really show the drastic improvement – but if you look back at my previous foundation reviews, you’ll notice the breakouts, scarring, uneven skin tone, etc.
To start, I washed my face with Beste No. 9 and pat dry. Then I went ahead and made a “Smoothie” by mixing a drop of Virgin Marula Oil, a pump of TLC Framboos and a pea size of Lala Retro and applied it to the face and neck. Lastly, I added a tiny amount of C-Tango to the eyes. (P.S. I have normal-to-combination skin with sensitivity redness.)
After months of use (even just using TLC Framboos with other skincare products), my skin looks and feels better than ever; the redness is gone, complexion is smooth and radiant, makeup-free confidence level boosted. It has gotten to the point where all of the products in the set are on my repurchase list.
What are your thoughts on Drunk Elephant Shelf-Control Night Shelfie set? Have you tried Drunk Elephant products before? When it comes to skincare, do you stick to one brand for the entire routine or mix-and-match?
This looms like a great kit for those interested in DE stuff.
My mom didn’t teach me about skincare like yours so I feelnim always behind in what I should be doing. I love that your skin has gotten better with these items
Thanks, Jill! I love how DE kits always has a bit of everything to try 🙂 And when it comes to skincare, there is no such thing as being behind. As long as it works and your skin is satisfied, that’s all that matters <3
I really need to try more Drunk Elephant because I really like what I’ve tried! This sounds like a great set!
Oh yes! I love their kits as it helps justify the purchase. The Littles kit is a great starting point to try a bit of everything 🙂
