Hello, 2021 – Happy New Year!
If there is one word to sum up 2020, I think it’s safe to say it would be: bizarre.
How was everyone’s 2020 bingo cards? Still figuring out which 3 things you’d choose? Remember that time we all stocked up on toilet paper. Empty streets, clean air, and nature taking over. Working from home and zoom meetings. Baking breads, growing veggies and working on puzzles. Stepping outside our homes every evening and applauding frontline workers. Making masks, wearing masks, frequent hand washing, wiping down everything. Not knowing what day it was anymore. Educating, taking action and supporting the Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour communities. Everything is cake. Notable legends gone too soon. There was a whole lot that happened in the year 2020, none will be forgotten.

This time last year, I mentioned how my 2019 was the year where it started off as a promising year and then went downhill. Well, 2020 was pretty much the 2.0 version but from a world scale.
This time last year, I would not have guessed what a whirlwind 2020 would turn out to be. I think we all had high expectations stepping into this new decade and to have it shattered within months, was heartbreaking. I’ve always told myself to not have high hopes because I will disappoint myself and yet I still fell into the trap of thinking things will work out.
This time last year, I felt as though I left myself down but made sure going into 2020, that wasn’t going to happen, no matter what comes my way. And although at times this year felt hopeless, I tried to seek the silver lining. In turn, I realized perhaps 2020 was just what I needed. There were a lot of downtime to focus, reflect, and truly be with my self.
All that to say, it was a bizarre year but I’ve learned a lot. Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021 – Happy New Year, I’m ready for you!
