The KISS InstaWave is as easy as 1-2-3 and here’s proof:
First, plug in and turn on the InstaWave by sliding on your desire heat temperature setting (Low setting for looser curls or waves and High setting for tighter curls or spirals) and wait for the indicator light to change from red to blue.
Before starting, remember to brush your hair and spray a little heat protection. If convenient, section off your hair.
1 – Hold InstaWave vertically, take 1 to 2 inch section of hair and place it onto the barrel of where you want your curl to start. (DO NOT hold InstaWave horizontally!)
2 – Press the Directional switch either left or right, and let the InstaWave instantly and automatically catches and curls the hair. Continue holding the button until your hair is completely around the barrel. Then release the button and allow the barrel to heat and curl your hair.
*TIP: The longer your hair is heated, the tighter the curl will be.
- 3-5 seconds on Low setting: Looser curls or waves
- 4-8 seconds on Low or High setting: Medium curls
- 6-10 seconds on High setting: Tighter curls or spirals
3 – Guide the InstaWave straight down to release curl from barrel And REPEAT! Don’t forget to switch between curling right and curling left to create the most natural looking curls!
I used High heat and allowed the curls to sit for about 6-8 seconds before pulling down the InstaWave. I did not brush out my hair or used any hairspray. Normally, after styling, I apply hairspray to keep my hair in place throughout the day. But for review purposes, I decided to leave it as is and see how it goes from there. And here was what my hair looked like right after it was finished.
Overall, I love this new heating hair tool! It seemed a bit tricky at first but after a few trial and errors the InstaWave is quite easy and fun to use. My first experience took me a while with hair spinning in all different directions and frustration leading me into thinking I rather use a regular curling iron. After a few uses I was able to get my hair curled within 10 minutes. I thought it was much better than a regular curling iron because it seemed quicker, my fingers were never close to getting burnt (since you’re not touching the barrel, at all) and I was able to get perfect curls all around, even at the back of my head, without trouble.
*Please note: I have been told by KISS Hair Appliances, the sound the InstaWave makes when it is plugged in, is caused by the circuit to drive the motor. However, it has no safety issues.
