“The NYC Expert Last Lipstick is moisturizing, comfortable and longwearing. With benefits including: up to 6 hour wear, long-lasting shine, amplified colour, velvety and glamorous finish, perfectly outlines lips, and doesn’t feather or bleed.”
With 20 different shades, I thought it would be fun to try out the NEW NYC New York Color Expert Lipsticks. I headed over to my local drugstore and picked up two shades and I am loving them!
The packaging was great, not only was the represented colour shown on the tube but there was also a clear cap showing the product. A huge plus was it came in a protective seal, so no swatches can be made in stores. However, there is no need to worry. The colour shown is almost exactly the colour you’re getting.
I always gravitate towards a “My lips but better”/nude lipstick and #446 – Smooch was definitely a hit! And you really can’t go wrong with a name like Smooch! With so many colour selections, I could not decide which other colour to purchase. I would buy them all since they were pretty affordable (at $1.99!!!) but my lipstick stash is slowly getting out of hand and I had yet to test them to know if I really enjoy them. So I ended up picking #442 – Berry Me. A berry-mauve shade, perfect colour for fall.
A pigmented formula providing a buildable colour payoff. No matter how many swipes added to reach colour opacity, it was still very lightweight and comfortable to wear. The lipstick is creamy and not drying to the lips but I always add lip balm before applying lip products so it felt fairly moisturizing.
The scent reminds me of those fruity scented erasers I had during my childhood from which I bought at the Dollar Store. I oddly enough still have the eraser, gave it a sniff and it totally smells like the “pink” (strawberry scent) eraser! Don’t be afraid, however, its a great scent. A light, sweet, fruity scent, it’s pleasantly amazing!
If you want a soft coloured lip instead of a bold, the lipstick does provide some staining power. I tested the staining power on Berry Me and it definitely looks great without fading completely after a few wipes. And the lasting power lasted quite a while (5-6 hours) without any touching up.
Overall, a great lipstick! Not only is it affordable but it works wonders. Truly a product worth trying! Have you tried NYC Expert Last Lipstick? What are your thoughts? What is your favourite shade?
UPDATE: I have swatched most of the Expert Last Lipstick collection over on this post. So please be sure to check them out!
